Not a city trip without some nice shopping, right? Especially when you’re in Berlin, one of the most trending fashion capitals in Europe! With more than 60 malls and shopping centres waiting for you, you can get lost easily though. So we took a day to explore the city’s shopping paradises for you and we put together the best malls for your Berlin shopping tour:

Shopping temples

Are you hunting for the next fashion trends? Or would you like to check out the latest consumer electronics? Alexa Shopping Centre right on Alexanderplatz has it all under the same roof. More than 180 stores are waiting for you behind the rosy concrete facades, so there’s plenty see and buy. Big chains like H&M or Mango hold stores here, and so do exclusive brands like Esprit, s.Oliver, Billabong, or Bench. Stop by at the food court for a little treat before you head on to one of the biggest Media Markt Stores there is: 8,000 sqm of high-tech consumer electronics.

Potsdamer Platz Arkaden is, as you might have guessed already, located right on Potsdamer Platz and has a similar vibe: 120 stores, mainly for fashion and textiles will stir your blood. Also, there are various opportunities for obtaining little souvenirs or gifts for your friends back home. And since you’re in the area anyway, why not check out the pulsating entertainment district around Potsdamer Platz with cinemas, theatres, concert halls, and nightclubs?

Big, bigger, biggest: Mall of Berlin

In the roaring twenties Leipziger Platz (right next to Potsdamer Platz) was home to the biggest and maybe even fanciest malls in all of Europe. Since 2014, after a few decades, you can finally go shopping here again: LP12 Mall of Berlin is not just another consumption temple, it sets new standards! No less than 270 different stores on about 80.000 sqm make for a spectacular shopping experience you won’t easily forget. The design is timeless and elegant and you will find yourself wanting to stroll on and on forever. Hungry? Check out the amazing food court with 30 restaurants. And if that wasn’t enough, they are actually expanding still, planning to open another wing in 2017. With 320 stores on 135.000 sqm the LP12 Mall of Berlin will then be the biggest shopping centre in all of Germany – right in the heart of Berlin.

The future of shopping

In the City West, next to the popular Berlin Zoo, the future of fancy shopping has already begun: Bikini Berlin is so much more than “just” a mall. The spectacular design of the building has won several prices and makes for the latest highlight in the growing City West. As a “Concept Mall” Bikini is home to numerous flagship stores of brands from all over the world and the 19 Bikini Berlin Boxes host changing pop-up stores and product presentations. What is even more spectacular is the vast rooftop terrace from where you get an excellent view over the Zoological Garden. Even the main hall of the mall has a vast glass facade neighbouring the zoo’s ape habitat. So while you are shopping you can watch the monkeys scramble about the rocks only meters away from you. That alone makes the visit worth its time – check it out!

Sure, there are many other malls here in town, and different kinds of shopping opportunities. You can easily add classy department stores like famous KaDeWe on Wittenbergplatz or shopping boulevards like Wilmersdorfer Straße to your shopping tour, and the little boutiques around Hackescher Markt are only a short metro ride away as well. So when in Berlin, make sure you bring time (and money) enough for an extended shopping tour – you won’t regret it.

Have a good time,
